“Alma, meaning ‘heart and soul’ is a people business founded on a strong set of core values”
Alma is a small and dynamic organisation that delivers specialist strategic guidance to a growing and established base of clients across a range of sectors and business types.
Our processes create real clarity that supports and enhances strategic business decision making and delivers sustainable business growth.
Alma, meaning ‘heart and soul’ is a people business founded on a strong set of core values.
We’re not micro-focussed specialists; we work with you to deeply understand every part of the ‘big picture’ that may impact your business.
We deliver real value and progress that has obvious and immediate value. Our work speaks for itself; we’re about results, not creating a high profile corporate image.
Confidentiality is imperative. We’re a small team and we limit our client base within sectors.
We love what we do and we build authentic relationships with our clients based on trust, respect and shared values, not on a prescribed engagement formula.
Every assignment is focussed on the delivery of Progress through Clarity and nothing else. We don’t have other business divisions to engineer additional work for.

We have a range of service offerings that support Progress through Clarity. We deliver valuable outcomes by acting as a specialist member of the client’s management team.
Every one of our engagements is entirely crafted to the individual situation and may involve elements of the following:
Typically in collaboration with boards and business owners, we deliver a clear understanding of business value and what drives it, both of which are critical to managing any business or successful transaction. This understanding helps businesses execute key strategic initiatives that create lasting value.
We offer more than numbers and reports. We provide strategy and negotiation support and can value strategic options to bring clarity to the decision-making process.
VBM is the process of systematically focussing management teams on the key drivers of value and business growth. Our VBM projects focus entirely on cash flow and growth in Economic Value. Strategy implementation is often supported through the application of a ‘Balanced Scorecard’ methodology.
Business outcomes typically include:
Taking a holistic approach, we collaborate with owners and management teams to identify, value and assess acquisition or divestment opportunities.
We then act as a lead advisor to manage the due diligence process, deal with external parties on behalf of the business, maximise transaction value and to oversee and guide pre and post merger planning and implementation.
Over the last ten years Alma has undertaken significant work in the Health Sector, predominately for District Health Boards but has also done work for Primary Health Organisations, Non-Government Organisations and other private providers of health services.
Through this work Alma has gained significant experience and understanding of hospital services, mental health and addiction services, primary and NGO service delivery, DHB funding streams, DHB structures, MECA agreements, and other expenditure drivers. Alma uses this experience to provide pragmatic analysis, advice, and recommendations for optimising resources, identifying realistic savings and developing action plans to enable change.
The projects we specialise in are often complex and difficult for a business owner or manager to define and frame up; we truly understand this challenge.
In the first instance, an informal discussion is often the best way of defining an issue or opportunity and the way forward usually becomes easier to identify. We enjoy having these informal no-obligation discussions; they’re an enlightening and energising experience, so to arrange a no-obligation chat, please contact us:
